After canceling last year due to the pandemic, state Rep. Doyle Heffley, R-Carbon, and Sen. John Yudichak, D-Luzerne/Carbon, are once again co-hosting the Senior Citizens Expo on Sept. 1, in Lehighton.

The free event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company, 2440 Fairyland Road. A free lunch will also be served.

The expo will feature dozens of exhibitors from the Carbon County area. In addition, a prescription drug drop-off box will be on-site for seniors to dispose of their unwanted or expired medications.

The legislators will also be collecting nonperishable food items during the expo to donate to a local food bank and ask everyone who attends to consider bringing a donation.
