The driver of a tractor was killed on Tuesday in a crash along Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County, after his vehicle was struck in the rear by another vehicle.
State police at Fern Ridge said the crash occurred at 10:43 p.m.
Troopers said Alice G. Weaver, 74, of Lehighton, was driving a 2017 Subaru Forester southbound past Fairgrounds Road, while Dalton O. Davidson, 23, of Saylorsburg, driving a John Deere A series tractor, also southbound, and slowing to make a right turn.
As he slowed, the tractor was struck in the rear by the Forester throwing Davidson from the tractor. The tractor rolled over and came to rest about 39 feet from the point of impact across both lanes of travel. After impact the Forester continued through the berm for about 170 feet and came to final rest about 25 feet off the west berm.
Davidson was flown by medical helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. He died at the hospital at 5:09 a.m. today.
Weaver and her passenger, Harry B. Weaver, 74, of Lehighton, were taken by West End ambulance to the Lehigh Valley Hospital - Pocono, East Stroudsburg. Both vehicles were towed.
Troopers cited Weaver for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.
