The Tamaqua Santander Bank at 408 E. Broad St. is closing.
The branch has been at the site since 2002.
Customers received a letter informing them of the closure noon Nov. 12. The office will consolidate into the Pottsville branch.
“Like many industries, our customers’ preferences and behaviors around banking are shifting. We are listening and responding by adjusting our business model and delivery to better serve our customers, which includes consolidating branches while also opening new ones, increasing our investment in digital, service center and ATM capabilities, and testing new products and services. We remain committed to Pennsylvania, and will continue proudly working with our clients in branches across the area, and through our 24/7 digital banking channels and ATMs,” Nancy Orlando, a media relations spokesperson said via email Tuesday.
Customers need no take any action about their accounts unless they have a safe-deposit box, the letter reads.
Those that do are asked to contact the Tamaqua office at 570-668-1122 or stop by no later than Oct. 19.
Customers will hearing or speech impairments may call 711 or their chosen relay service.
Use of a free safe deposit box for a year is available at any of the Santander sites, the letter says.
The closing leaves access to two banks in town: Wells Fargo and M & T.
