The Anthracite Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America will hold a benefit cruise at Heisler’s Cloverleaf Dairy in Tamaqua on Saturday from 4-7 p.m.
“We’ve probably been going to Heisler’s 2-3 times a year with cruises,” said Dave Bielen, treasurer. “We find it’s probably one of the best venues. Not only do we have an area to park the cars, but there is so much more available there - you can eat, you can golf.”
Proceeds will benefit Hazleton Avenues Rehabilitation Partners. Dash plaques will be awarded to the first 50 cars and the cruise will also feature oldies music and door prizes.
“We try to do 4-5 charity cruises each year,” Bielen said. “And usually, around Christmastime, we try to donate to different charities. … We try to do good. Also, kids that belong to our club, if their parents belong and they help out at shows, we actually give them scholarships. It’s not a ton of money, but we just had two girls who graduated from Tamaqua who have been helping the club through their parents for years. We gave each one of them at $250 check. We just try to do the right thing.”
All antiques, muscle cars, modifieds, hot rods and motorcycles are welcome. For more information, call Shawn Frederickson at 570-778-7905.
