Members of the Franklin Township and Lehighton fire companies made a dramatic rescue of the operator of a tractor trailer Sunday morning along the turnpike.

The crash was reported around 6:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes at the 82.5 mile marker. The driver apparently lost control swerving to the right plowing over the guide rails and plummeting down a steep embankment coming to rest on its roof.

The rescue operation took about an hour.

Firefighters were assisted in the operation by a heavy duty wreckers of All-Points Towing stabilizing the wreckage. The victim was treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics. State police at Pocono are investigating the incident.
