VALOR will sponsor a Stand Down Day on Saturday at the American Fire Company, 26 E. Patterson St., Lansford.

The event will feature free non-perishable food, clothing and hygiene items being distributed to those in need, while each child present will receive a free book bag with supplies.

A “picnic-to-go” will be included in the festivities, including free hamburgers, hot dogs, potato chips and desserts.

Local agencies that will participate and will provide information and/or referrals include the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs Mobile Outreach Van, the St. Vincent de Paul Society (emergency food pantry), St. Luke’s Health Network, the Carbon-Monroe-Pike Mental Health and Developmental Services agency, Carbon Corps and 211 VISTA.
