Carbon County court — criminal cases
A Carbon County man who admitted harassing his ex-wife and has a history of violating protection from abuse orders involving the woman, entered guilty pleas in two pending cases on Monday in the county court.
He was one of five defendants in pending criminal cases to enter a plea before President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II.
Two incidents
Jamie L. Tracy, 52, of Lehighton, pleaded to two counts of harassment, as misdemeanor 3, in two pending cases. In exchange for the pleas, the district attorney’s office dropped three felony counts of stalking and a misdemeanor charge of simple assault.
Tracy was arrested for incidents on July 6, 2020.
State police at Lehighton responded to his ex-wife’s residence in Towamensing Township, twice for a report of him violating a protection from abuse order.
Troopers said Tracy had been texting his ex-wife, calling her on the phone, sending emails and driving around the home at different hours of the night.
It was noted he had been charged with violating PFA orders previously secured by his ex-wife.
Defense attorney Matthew J. Rapa, said that the situation was “messy” and the divorce was not yet completed as there were property questions to be settled.
He said Tracy spent 90 days in jail for violating a PFA order and was an elementary school teacher.
Nanovic placed him on probation for a year on each count with the terms running consecutively.
He also ordered Tracy to get a drug and alcohol evaluation, zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use, have no contact with the victim and make restitution of $273.60 to the victim.
Other pleas
Crystal Gayle Sills, 35, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of persistent disorderly conduct. She was arrested on April 21 by Lansford police who were dispatched to a residence along West Ridge Street for an unwanted person who was out of control.
When police arrived, Sills was identified as the person involved and that she had left the scene with her two children and she was under the influence of drugs. Police later located her and took her into custody.
Nanovic sentenced her to serve one to 12 months in prison and get both drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations. She was given credit for 111 days spent in jail on the charges and paroled.
Anthony Steckler, 49, of Johnston City, New York, formerly of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of simple assault, mutual consent.
He was charged for an incident on April 30. State police at Lehighton responded to a trailer court in East Penn Township.
Troopers said Steckler and a neighbor got into a physical altercation following an argument.
Nanovic placed him on probation for a year and ordered he get a drug and alcohol evaluation and attend and successfully complete an anger management course.
Robert William Mason, 50, of Weissport, pleaded to one count of defiant trespass, as a summary offense.
He was charged by state police at Lehighton for an incident on Aug. 25, 2015, at a location along Strohl’s Valley Road in Towamensing Township. Charges of theft and receiving stolen property were dropped in a plea deal.
He was fined $300 and costs.
Kimberly Anne Rossi, 52, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of harassment, as a summary offense. She was arrested on Sept. 9, 2020, by Lansford police for an incident along East Abbott Street in which she was originally charged with simple assault of a relative. The assault count was dropped in a plea deal.
Nanovic imposed a fine of $159 and costs.
Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
