A GoFundMe account has been set up for an Aquashicola family who lost its home to a devastating fire.
Firefighters from multiple counties fought the smoldering blaze that broke out after 6 p.m. Wednesday at the home at 3885 Forest Inn Road.
Raberta Hans of Palmerton organized a GoFundMe fundraiser on behalf of Nancy and Larry Borger.
“Larry is currently in the hospital battling pancreatic cancer,” Hans said. “This is an elderly couple who have been members of the Palmerton community for their entire lives, please feel it in your heart to help them re-establish a residence in our beautiful town.
“Fortunately, the family all escaped the home without injury. Our hearts and prayers go out to Larry and Nancy as they face this difficult time.”
Donations may be made in a GoFundMe account titled Help Nancy and Larry Borger.
The fundraiser was set up on Thursday.
As of Friday evening, $4,235 of the $5,000 goal had been raised.
Aquashicola Volunteer Fire Company fire Chief Billy George said the home was gutted.
George said the cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation.
He said firefighters were on scene for about six hours.
