Tara Gilbert, 19-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gilbert of Jim Thorpe, was crowned Miss Carbon County 1991 at the annual pageant held in the Lehighton High School auditorium.

She succeeds the 1990 pageant winner, Judith Anne Durilla, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Durilla of Lake Hauto, Nesquehoning.

Named first runner-up was Shari Kenlin, 19, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kenlin of Nesquehoning, while the second runner-up was Nicole Heath, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Heath of Lehighton.

The new Miss Carbon County was also named winner of the talent segment of the competition after performing a vocal selection of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”
