• A Carbon County driver was cited for following too closely after a three-vehicle crash in Berks County.
State police at Hamburg said the crash occurred at 4:55 p.m. on July 26 at the intersection of Route 143 and the Exit 33 off ramp from Interstate 78, in Greenwich Township.
Troopers said Steven C. Craft, 55, of Palmerton, and Richard L. Gallagher, 66, of Kempton, Berks County, were both northbound on 143 while Lynn K. Breisch, 30, of Allentown, was stopped on the off ramp of 178. Gallagher slowed down due to seeing Breisch’s vehicle and Craft failed to slow, and swerved to the left with his 1994 Ford Mustang striking Breisch’s 2021 Subaru Forester. Craft’s vehicle then struck Gallagher’s 2018 Acura RDX.
No one was injured. The Ford and Acura had to be towed.
• A Schuylkill County driver was involved in a one-vehicle crash at 9:35 a.m. on Sunday along Route 309 in Lynn Township, Lehigh County. Police said a young boy was injured.
State police at Fogelsville said Michael Carrelli, 49, of McAdoo, was driving a 2005 Subaru Legacy when he attempted to pass another vehicle in front of him on the left. Carrelli lost control of the vehicle due to driving too fast for road conditions and then attempted to correct his actions. The Subaru veered right onto the right shoulder and a grassy area. The vehicle began to spin and the initial point of impact occurred with the left rear passenger door through the rear bumper area striking a tree.
A 12-year boy in the vehicle suffered serious injuries. The boy, Carrelli and another passenger, Jacqueline Carrelli, 47, were all taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, by Cetronia ambulance. Carrelli and the woman had to be extricated from the wreckage by volunteers of the New Tripoli Fire Company.
Troopers cited Carrelli for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.
• A Slatington man was cited for a stop sign violation following a three-vehicle crash July 10 at 1:35 p.m. at the intersection of Scheidys and Clearview roads in North Whitehall Township, Lehigh County. Troopers with the state police at Bethlehem said William E. Ayers, 79, of Slatington, driving a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado truck, was stopped for a stop sign on Clearview Road while Jennifer C. Steele, 50, of Laurys Station, driving a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder, was northbound on Scheidys Road. Thomas R. Schwartz, 74, of Mount Lookout, West Virginia, driving a 2015 Buick Verano, was stopped at a stop sign facing west on Clearview Road.
Ayers entered the intersection without clearance and was struck by the Nissan. Impact forced the Silverado into the Buick. No one was injured. All three vehicles had to be towed.
• Ross J. Martin, 39, of Saylorsburg, escaped injuries in a one-vehicle mishap at 6:04 a.m. July 17 at the intersection of Route 115 and Herbst Street in Ross Township.
State police at the Lehighton barracks said he was driving a 2001 Toyota Tacoma southbound on Route 115 when the front driver’s side wheel assembly became detached, causing him to lose control of the vehicle. It left the road and came to rest against a boulder on the front lawn of a residence.
Police said the vehicle needed to be towed from the scene.
