Joanne M. Huber of Jim Thorpe is no stranger in the Carbon County Tax Claim Bureau in the Courthouse Annex in Jim Thorpe, considering she has been on the scene for a dozen years.

She was appointed director during Tuesday’s meeting of the Carbon County Board of Commissioners, succeeding Homer Green, Palmerton, who submitted his resignation effective July 28.

Huber’s salary was increased to $20,380 a year, the same as Green was paid.

Huber, who previously worked for the former Zales Silk Mill, joined the bureau in 1977 and two years later was named assistant director to succeed Kathleen Bennyhoff of Jim Thorpe in that position.
