A 32-year old Coal Township man died in a two-vehicle crash in North Manheim Township and two others were injured Saturday.
Schuylkill County Coroner Dr. David J. Moylan III identified the man as Timothy Herb. A post-mortem CT scan was done Sunday at the Simon Kramer Cancer Center, New Philadelphia. Preliminary results indicate Herb died of internal hemorrhage due to blunt force trauma. A routine toxicology test will be sent to NMS Labs, Moylan said. He hasn’t determined if a traditional autopsy will occur.
Deputy Coroner Gail Newton pronounced Herb deceased Saturday.
A supervisor with the Schuylkill County Communications Center said the crash was called in at 3:03 p.m. with entrapment at Gordon Nagle Trail and SPCA road. State Police at Schuylkill Haven said the crash occurred as Herb was driving south on the Gordon Nagle Trail negotiating a right curve and crossed the double yellow line, striking a 2018 Ford F-150 heading northbound driven by a 67-year-old man from Pitman. Schuylkill EMS transported Herb to Lehigh Valley Hospital Schuylkill E. Norwegian St. where he died. The driver of the Ford, who was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital Schuylkill E. Norwegian St., sustained minor injuries and his passenger, a 66-year-old female from Pitman, has unknown injuries, police said. She was flown by Medevac to Danville Hospital.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Route 901 was shutdown for about 2 1/2 hours.
Responding to the scene were the Pennsylvania State Police Collison Analysis Reconstruction Unit, Schuylkill EMS, Minersville EMS, and fire companies from Pottsville and fire police.
