Slatington Borough Council took the following action earlier this month:
• Agreed to send a letter of request to PennDOT to lower the speed limit on the south end of Slatington, from Grove Street to Washington Street, to 25 mph. There has been some rebuttal from the public about decreasing the speed limit to 25 mph, when 35 mph seems to be enough.
• Authorized the solicitor to revise the noise ordinance as per suggestions of police Chief David Rachman. This is mainly for muffler loudness, music level, and fireworks.
• Approved hiring a part-time summer employee at the sewer plant.
• Agreed to apply for a Transporation Alternatives Set-Aside grant for the 100 steps.
• Advised to be on the lookout for fentanyl laced drugs, as there have been quite a few overdoses in the borough recently.
