The West team earned an impressive win in a showdown with the East squad Wednesday in the Panther Valley Little League Tournament 12-year-old All-Star Game.

The West squad pounded out 15 hits en route to a 13-0 victory over the East in the Panther Valley Little League Tournament.
The West, comprised of Tri-County/Weatherly, Anthracite and Tamaqua, broke open a close game with a three-run fourth inning. Ricardo Dominguez of Tri-County/Weatherly provided the key hit in the frame, stroking a two-run double.
The advantage grew to 9-0 in the fifth thanks to the longball. Tri-County/Weatherly’s Chase Grier followed singles by Alex Diaz (Tri-County/Weatherly) and Joey Conahan (Tamaqua) with a three-run homer. Logan Deiter of Tamaqua went back-to-back by blasting a solo shot after Grier went deep.
Diaz finished the contest with three hits - one a triple - and four runs, while Dominguez also collected three hits, two of them doubles. Chase McArdle of Anthracite added two hits, a run scored and an RBI, with Derek Lazar (Anthracite) chipping in with an RBI triple and two runs.
Other hits for the winners came from Brian Boretski (Anthracite), Trent Hausman (Anthracite) and Jeremiah Donadi (Tri-County/Weatherly).
Tamaqua’s Gavan Hess started on the mound for the West and gained the pitching win.
For the East, Pierce Goida of Franklin Township had a single and double, while Chase Wilson (Towamensing) finished with a pair of hits. Others collecting hits included Noah Wentz (Franklin Township), Greyson Ahner (Towamensing) and Noah Bauder (Franklin Township).
