Schuylkill County Commissioners accepted the resignation of Deb Detweiler, a per diem field appraiser in tax assessment at their Wednesday meeting.
The only problem is though she didn’t resign.
Detweiler, who did not attend the meeting, said she received a phone call from someone in the office telling her they were eliminating the position. Detweiler has a full-time job out of the county.
Human Resources Director Heidi Zula said she received a personnel action report from the tax assessment office listing her as resigning.
Chief assessor Kent Hatter said he completed the personnel action report. He said there are several boxes to select.
“She didn’t resign,” although that is the box he checked.
He is aware an employee called her.
Hatter said in hindsight he could have chosen another box. He wrote on the report
“Works full-time elsewhere. We are cleaning up our employee roll.”
