Tamaqua woman throws punches at officer, arrested at pool Friday

A Tamaqua woman threw punches at an officer while resisting arrest over the weekend.

Police were dispatched to the Tamaqua Bungalow Pool for a reported disturbance on Friday. Tamaqua police said a family was asked to leave due to playing loud music through a Bluetooth speaker, containing offensive language and racial slurs.

Police said Stephanie Crute, 36, of Tamaqua, was with her daughters and refused to leave.

Police said Crute pushed an officer when his back was turned to her, and that Crute then resisted arrest, while throwing punches at officers and other patrons during the sequence.

According to police, Crute’s daughter, a minor, attacked an officer from the back while attempting to place Crute under arrest.

Police said Crute kicked an officer while being placed in a police vehicle. She was arraigned, and bail was set at $25,000 at 10%.

Crute was unable to post bail and taken to Schuylkill County Prison.

Crute’s daughter was released to her father.

Crute faces charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest, harassment and disorderly conduct.

One officer went to the hospital due to injuries suffered in the incident.
