Schuylkill County President Judge William E. Baldwin said he is retiring at the end of the year.
A firm date has not been chosen. Baldwin said he talks with his wife every summer about their plans for the upcoming year.
“It’s just the right time,” he said of retiring in 2021.
He admits he’s had a lot of work to do especially during the COVID-19 pandemic but that didn’t factor into his decision.
Baldwin was elected in 1987, taking the bench in 1988. This is his 24th year being president judge. Common Pleas Judge Jacqueline L. Russell will become president judge upon his retirement.
“She will be great at the job,” he said.
