Northern Lehigh names new elementary principal
A Pleasant Valley School District administrator has been tabbed to fill a vacant elementary school principal post in the Northern Lehigh School District.
On a 7-0 vote, the school board at a special meeting on Monday appointed Todd Breiner as principal at Slatington Elementary School, at a salary of $108,000, prorated, effective upon the release of his current employer.
Breiner expressed his sincere appreciation to the board, administration, staff, and community “for this wonderful opportunity.”
“I know I have some big shoes to fill, and I’m extremely excited to get started, but more so I’m more excited about being able to serve the community here,” Breiner said. “Thank you so much for this opportunity, and I look forward to working with you.”
Breiner currently serves as principal of Pleasant Valley Intermediate School, a grades 4-6 building. Before that, he served as a teacher and then an assistant principal in the East Penn School District.
After the meeting, Superintendent Matthew J. Link said the district is glad to have chosen Breiner for the position.
“We are extremely excited to have Mr. Breiner join our leadership team to support the students, their families, and all of the staff in Slatington Elementary School,” Link said. “He is joining us during an exciting and challenging time in public education, and we look forward to him adding his experience and ideas to the work we do in Slatington Elementary School, the district, and community as a whole.”
Breiner replaces former Slatington Elementary Principal Scott Pyne, who moved to the district’s newly created position as director of Educational Technology, Curriculum and Instruction earlier this month at a salary of $125,000.
Pyne, a former assistant principal at the high school, had been principal at Slatington Elementary since May 2013.
Directors Robert Keegan Jr. and Michele Martineau were absent.
