A Weatherly man was killed in a one-vehicle crash Monday evening.

State police at Hazleton said Michael H. Reis, 73, was killed about 9:17 p.m. in a crash along East Diamond Avenue at the intersection with Stockton Mountain Road, in Hazle Township, Luzerne County.

Troopers said Reis was driving a 2017 Chevrolet southbound on Stockton Mountain Road and entered onto East Diamond Avenue.

The vehicle left the roadway and entered a wooded area.

Reis had to be extricated from the vehicle by emergency personnel. He was pronounced dead at the scene by a member of the county coroner’s office.

The road was closed for an hour due to the crash.

The investigation is continuing.
