Man threatens to kill girlfriend, causes standoff
A Philadelphia man has been charged with threatening to shoot his girlfriend and her unborn child while hallucinating after taking drugs.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by trooper Daniel Magarelli of the Pennsylvania State Police Lehighton Barracks in the case against Tyrelle Lamont Suttle:
On Saturday, Lehighton PSP received a call from a woman who reported that she had just left her residence in the 100 block of Yard Street in Nesquehoning due to a domestic disturbance with her boyfriend, identified as Suttle, 32.
The victim went to a nearby neighbors’ residence to call the police.
Troopers Mark Bower and Charles Inserra met with the victim, who said that Suttle had been awake for about 48 hours and that she observed him consume the drug “Molly.”
The victim said that Suttle appeared to be hallucinating and was seeing men entering their residence.
He then accused her of cheating on him with the imaginary men and pointed a gun at her and threatened to shoot her and her unborn child.
The victim said that Suttle owns a 30-round magazine for the pistol, and that he had barricaded all the windows and doors within the residence.
She also said Suttle told her if she calls the police, he would not go back to prison for another gun or drug charge, but that he will go out by “suicide by cop.”
The victim said that she observed Suttle point the pistol at his own head, and destroy his own cellphone.
She also said Suttle took Xanax pills and fell asleep so she removed the 30-round magazine from the pistol and placed it away from the firearm, which she left on the bed.
Bower and Inserra attempted to contact Suttle via their patrol unit’s public address system and siren several times.
Troopers also attempted to contact Suttle via his cellphone, which went directly to voicemail.
Troopers and local police departments established and secured a perimeter, and eventually Suttle exited the residence and was taken into custody.
A query of Suttle’s extensive criminal history revealed that he has multiple felony and Act 64 convictions, and should not possess a firearm.
Suttle faces charges on two counts of simple assault; and one count each of terroristic threats with intent to terrorize another, of possession of firearm prohibited.
He is currently incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $500,000 monetary bail, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing July 21 before District Judge Eric M. Schrantz of Jim Thorpe.
