Jack Yalch, 43 Leisenring St., Lansford, has decided to hang up his barber tools and join the editorial staff at the Times News.

Yalch, 37, has been freelancing as a Times News photo-correspondent for the past three years, and many of his photos and stories have been exclusive “scoops.”

The graduate of Lansford High School served three years in the Army during the Korean War and graduated in 1959 from the Williamsport Technical Institute as an electronics technician. He worked for the Philco Corporation in Spring City before returning to Lansford to the barber trade he learned during his high school days, saying big city life couldn’t compete with the quiet life in the Panther Valley.
