Cooling centers have been opened for Monroe County residents impacted by utility interruptions due to the thunderstorms on Tuesday. Cooling centers will provide a place for residents to seek respite from the heat and an opportunity to charge devices.
Cooling centers are located at the following locations:
Pleasant Valley Middle School, 2233 PA-115, Brodheadsville
Whispering Pines, 1445 Big Ridge Dr, East Stroudsburg.
Cooling centers will be operational until 6:30 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
More than 1,000 people in Monroe County are still without electricity. MetED is reporting 553 customers without power and PPL is reporting 490 without power as of 4:30 p.m.
