“Hugs & Kisses” bidding auction will be held June 26 in the HH&L Fire Company, Pine Grove. The fire company is located behind the Pine Grove Pharmacy on Pottsville Street across from ACE Hardware. Doors will open at 8 a.m. with the auction beginning at 9 a.m.

The chance auction will be held June 25, 6-8 p.m. and continue the next day with the drawing taking place sometime in the afternoon. Hot food will be available all day long.

In celebration of the 10th anniversary, many door prizes and free giveaways will be awarded throughout the day. The first 275 people coming into the building will receive what the volunteers call a “good bag.”

Over the past nine years, $152,000 had been made and given to a variety of groups such as the six fire companies in the Pine Grove/Tremont areas, the Schuylkill County Fair, a park in Minersville, and The Disaster Relief Fund which was formed because of the number of fires and flooding in the two boroughs. A yearly scholarship award from Hugs & Kisses is presented to the student performing the highest number of volunteer hours.

Also, with FEMA’s approval of the sale of the Pottsville-Laurel Streets property to Hugs & Kisses, the project can begin. The funds required for the construction of the park had been set aside.
