A greater tribute than that paid a retired Summit Hill police sergeant on Saturday evening hardly seems imaginable.
Family, friends and well-wishers of James Whitehead honored the former police officer during a testimonial dinner held at the American Legion Post 316, Summit Hill, for his many years of dedication and service to the community.
Whitehead not only served the community well as a member of the police force for the past 20 years, but gave many hours of his time as a volunteer ambulance driver for the same number of years.
The general feeling of the capacity crowd was unmistakably one of pride as they greeted the guest of honor with a rousing standing ovation.
