Buckno Lisicky & Company announced it has named Chris Betley, CPA, and David J. Marakovits, CPA, CFE, CGMA, as equity shareholders to the firm.

Betley received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Moravian College in 2006 and became a Certified Public Accountant in 2014.

Betley joined Buckno Lisicky & Company in September 2018 and was promoted to Preferred Shareholder in 2019. Prior to joining the firm, he worked for a large regional accounting firm located in New Jersey before relocating to the Lehigh Valley.

Betley has over 10 years of experience in audits of local and state government entities, including fire companies, townships, counties, water and sewer utilities, school districts, community colleges and nonprofit entities. He serves on the firm’s quality control committee where he performs firmwide quality control technical reviews, inspections and in-house CPE training courses.

Betley is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials, New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, and Community Association Institute.

He serves as treasurer for the Bethlehem Rotary Club and is a board member and a member of the finance committee for Valley Youth House. He currently resides in Bethlehem with his wife, Emily; two daughters, Olivia and Juliet; and son, Colton.

A graduate of Freedom High School in Bethlehem, Marakovits received a Bachelor of Science degree from Pennsylvania State University in 1990. He joined the firm in 1998 and became a manager in 2000.

Marakovits was promoted to Preferred Shareholder in 2019.

He has in-depth experience servicing a variety of Buckno Lisicky & Company’s clientele in the areas of fraud investigations and forensic accounting services, nonprofit organizations, government organizations and manufacturing.

Marakovits is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, National and Lehigh Valley Chapter. He also serves as treasurer for Lehigh Valley Children’s Centers Inc.
