Palmerton Borough Council last night presented a certificate of merit to Joel George, 11, for his courage and quick thinking in the rescue of Andy Behler on June 3 at the Palmerton Memorial Park Pool.

George was the first to arrive after seeing Behler floating facedown in 6 feet of water. He is credited with saving the youngster’s life.

Council also commended Michael Papay and John Wuchter for their efforts in the rescue mission and lifeguard Howard Cyr Jr. was commended for reviving Behler at poolside.
