Tamaqua firefighters had to rescue a man from his van Wednesday evening after a crash in the 200 block of Orwigsburg Street. The incident occurred just before 8 p.m. as he was traveling west and apparently lost control climbing the curb and coming to rest beneath the porch of a home.

The victim was treated at the scene by members of the Tamaqua ambulance before being transported to a nearby trauma center. Tamaqua police are investigating the incident.
