A new fall festival is a possibility for Labor Day weekend.
Nichole Baker of the St. Peter’s Community Resource Center, Weissport, addressed the Weissport Borough Council about a community festival they would like to hold in the Borough Park. The festival is still in the planning stages, but they are hoping to hold the one-day festival on Sept. 4, with the rain date being Sept. 5.
“We would have rides, games, food and vendors,” she said. “We are raising funds to replace the roof on our building; this festival would be as a fundraiser for that, plus it would be for the benefit of the community. If it goes well this year, then we can look at possibly expanding it to more than one day for the future.”
The newly formed Weissport Event Committee will meet with them to work out details and perhaps combine resources to make this an event for the whole area. A festival was one event they were hoping to bring to the community.
“A lot of people enjoyed the Redneck Festival when it was held,” Baker explained, “and we are hoping this will be able to fill the void left when that was canceled.”
