Update: one dead after Jim Thorpe blaze

A woman is dead and her husband was taken to the hospital after a house fire in Jim Thorpe

Firefighters are still on scene of the fire at Center and Pine Avenues in Jim Thorpe.

An employee of the Carbon County Communications Center said the dwelling fire was called in at 5:22 a.m. It was upgraded to a fully involved structure fire at 5:28 a.m.

As of 7:50 a.m. the fire was under control.

Jim Thorpe Fire Chief Vincent Yaich was not able to comment at this time. Police chief Joe Schatz was said he arrived on scene at 8:40 a.m. and could not provide details at this time.

Fire departments from Penn Forest, Lansford, Summit Hill, Nesquehoning, Jim Thorpe, Franklin Township and Lehighton responded. Lehighton Ambulance was also on scene.
