Carbon County named in lawsuit

The County of Carbon, 2 Hazard Square, Jim Thorpe, has been named defendant in a suit for damages stemming from a fall on county property.

Brenda Fallon, 4458 Elmwood Drive, Nazareth, filed the action seeking damages in an amount in excess of jurisdictional limits.

The suit states on Aug. 30, 2020, the plaintiff went to the Hill Street entrance of the Switchback Trail to ride her bicycle.

To enter the trail, the plaintiff proceeded on a small bridge that had no railings and was made of wood and railroad ties.

Suddenly, the plaintiff’s bicycle tire allegedly became lodged in a defect on the bridge, causing her to fall from the bridge about 15 feet to a gully below, causing her serious and permanent injury which are detailed in the suit.

Negligence is alleged against the defendant for the defect in the bridge which caused the plaintiff to fall.
