A Carbon County resident was fatally injured in a crash on Thursday.

Gary Thornton, 61, of Albrightsville, died at the scene of a crash on Long Pond Road.

The incident happened shortly after 5 p.m. According to initial reports, the car hit a tree.

Thornton was a passenger in the vehicle. The unidentified driver was flown to a trauma center.

An autopsy is scheduled to take place Saturday.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police are investigating.
