The Times News will host a new contest, which is set to begin Saturday.
Check out “ShopEatLocalOpoly,” a spinoff of the classic board game Monopoly, in Saturday’s edition of the Times News.
Baltic Ave. or Park Place? Neither. It’s more like Tamaqua or Lehighton, for example.
“For a chance to win the grand prize $500 Visa gift card, you need to complete one color grouping, or one side of the board,” said Jen Benninger, Times News advertising director. “Each completed side will make you eligible to have up to four chances to win the gift card.”
Each “place” on the game board is a local business in the Times News area, which a contestant must travel to - in hopes of completing at least one side of the board. Present the game board to personnel at that specific business and receive a punched hole on the board. No purchase of items or service at any location is necessary.
Benninger said each business has a custom hole-punch for proof of visit, so no punch can be replicated.
“The game board will be inserted into Saturday’s newspapers. We have 24 local business sponsors. There are six on each side of the game board,” Benninger added.
The game begins on May 29 and concludes June 30. Anyone can play - no purchase or subscription necessary.
If you miss Saturday’s paper, the game boards will be available (while supplies last) at the Times News Lehighton office and in the vestibule area of the Tamaqua office.
Contestants must have an original game board from the Times News, no photocopies or alterations.
Contestants should mail boards to the Times News or dropped off at the Lehighton office by July 12 at 4 p.m.
