Speed was a factor in a fatal crash in Monroe County over the past weekend. State police at Lehighton said the crash occurred at 1:36 a.m. on Sunday along Route 115 in Ross Township.

Troopers said Lane H. Dickey, 30, of East Bangor, Northampton County, was driving a 2008 BMW at a high rate of speed when the vehicle left the road and struck a tree. Upon impact the car caught fire. Fire personnel extinguished the blaze.

Dickey was pronounced dead at the scene.
