State police report on DUI incidents

Area state police report on the following driving under the influence cases:

• A Monroe County driver is facing a driving under the influence charge following an incident that occurred at 7:50 p.m. on May 22.

State police at Lehighton said a vehicle stop was made along Interchange Road at Becky Lane, in Polk Township, Monroe County. During the stop the driver, George Bogart, 49, of Henryville, showed signs of impairment and was taken into custody for DUI. He was taken to the county DUI center for processing and later released.

• State police at Lehighton said a 2004 Ford F250 truck was stopped at 5:40 p.m. on April 29 at Kunkletown Road and Engler Lane, in Eldred Township. The driver, William O’Neill, 28, of Saylorsburg, showed signs of impairment. It was also learned that he had outstanding warrants for his arrest for simple assault and theft. He was taken into custody on the warrants and charged with DUI and drug-related offenses.

A passenger, Amy Matlock, 36, of Blakeslee, was taken into custody for drug possession and later released, troopers said.

• Troopers reported a traffic stop of a 2003 Volkswagen Beetle was made at 4:19 a.m. on May 15 at Little Gap and Covered Bridge roads, in Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County. The driver, a 17-year-old male from Effort, was suspected of DUI of a controlled substance. He refused all testing. Charges will be filed through Carbon County Juvenile Probation Office.

• A Carbon County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence.

State police at Hazleton said they were dispatched to Route 93 in Packer Township at 4:20 p.m. on Wednesday to assist the Carbon County Sheriff’s Department deputies on a traffic stop.

Police said a 68-year-old man from Weatherly, who troopers declined to identify, was driving a 2018 Toyota Tacoma under the influence of alcohol. Troopers said charges will be filed pending blood test results.
