Sacred Heart news
Sacred Heart Parish, Lafayette Avenue, Palmerton, will celebrate the end of the Easter Season with the Feast of Pentecost. The readings focus on the coming of the Holy Spirit as a gift to the disciples to strengthen them to go forth with the message of salvation. This feast is often referenced as the birthday of the church as all the baptized are called to live in the spirit. At the conclusion of Sunday Mass, the Easter Candle is placed near the Baptistry and will be lit each time a new member is born of water. The candle will also be lit at each Funeral Mass.
In accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, church seating restrictions will be lifted for parishes in the Diocese of Allentown this weekend, May 22 and 23. Fully vaccinated people, defined as being two weeks after receiving the final dose of the vaccine, no longer need to wear a mask or keep social distancing in most settings. Sacred Heart Parish will continue to follow all safety guidelines and will do its absolute best to welcome our parishioners back into a safe environment.
