Local Roundup: Results from May 21

Franklin Township and Northern Valley both picked up Lehigh Valley Connie Mack wins on Friday.

Franklin Township-Jim Thorpe

Franklin Township rallied from an early deficit to gain a 7-4 win over Jim Thorpe.

Thorpe raced to a 4-0 lead after two innings, but Franklin plated two runs in the third and took the lead for good with a four-run fifth frame.

Brady O’Donnell collected three hits, one a double, and scored a pair of runs for the winners. He also knocked in one run.

Carter Birnbaum added a single and a double, scored twice and had an RBI. Ian Rarick also contributed two hits for FT.

For Thorpe, Nick Schwartz finished with two hits and a run scored, while Jack Edwards had three RBIs.

Northern Valley-Northampton

Northern Valley used a huge fifth inning to pull away from Northampton for a 13-0 victory.

The Chargers led 2-0 after four frames, but combined nine hits, two walks and a few errors to score 11 times in the fifth.

Wesley George had three hits, one a double, and knocked in four runs to lead Northern Valley (3-0). George also scored a pair of runs.

Sam Mauro added two hits, two runs and an RBI, while Chase Moyer and Erik Mather both finished with a pair of hits and a couple runs scored. Jake Tosh chipped in with a hit and two RBIs.

George also excelled on the mound, tossing a two-hit shutout. He walked only two and struck out nine.

Palmerton-Stroudsburg

Palmerton managed only two hits against Stroudsburg as the Blue Bombers dropped a 12-2 decision.

Nate Steinmetz had a triple and a run scored for Palmerton (1-1), while Dalton Rumfield contributed a hit and an RBI.

The winners used a five-run third inning and a six-run fourth frame to take control of the game.

Litts, the game’s winning pitcher, led the way offensively for Stroudsburg with two hits, two runs and three RBIs.
