Sydney Wernett
Town: Jim Thorpe
Background: I have a degree in criminal justice and management experience. I have spent the last four years working towards the goal of running for Clerk of Courts. I utilized my experience as a previous employee of the office and as a deputy sheriff to gain an understanding of how local government operates. This has prepared me to formulate a plan for a positive working relationship between the various offices and a positive environment for employees.
Q: What are your three main goals if elected?
A: I will address the judgments put on record through the BOC. An issue was raised last year, and to date, it has not been addressed nor has there been a solution suggested to the courts. I will attend court to prioritize cases so that mistakes such as releasing an inmate and suspending licenses prematurely do not continue to occur. I will create a positive work environment to decrease the turnover and improve morale in the office.
Q: Why do you feel you are the best candidate for the position?
A: I am the best candidate for the job, because I am a hands-on leader and genuinely care about the success of the office and the employees within. I am dedicated and committed to establishing effective policies that ensure the success of the office and correct the errors that are not currently being disclosed to the public. I will be a leader that works beside my staff to get results and not demand results without putting in the work.
