Quick response by Lansford and Coaldale fire departments saved an apartment building in Lansford this afternoon. The alarm came in about 2:30 p.m. at 286 East Patterson St., a condemned three-story wood frame structure.

Several families appeared to be living in the building. Authorities at the scene thought the condemnation was due to faulty wiring. When first responders arrived on scene they found smoke pouring from the third floor. The cause of the fire has yet to be reported.
