Area drivers in Lehigh County crashes
State police report on the following crashes involving Carbon County drivers:
• State police at Bethlehem said a crash occurred on April 24 at 9:57 a.m. along Old Mill Road in Washington Township. Randy J. Stevens, 28, of Lehighton, was driving a 2008 Volvo C30 southbound and approaching a curve when he said he was bending down to get something. The vehicle hit a telephone pole. Stevens left the vehicle on an embankment next to the pole and didn’t tell police. Violations included driving while license is suspended/revoked and duty to give information and render aid.
• A crash occurred on April 18 at 1:47 p.m. along Route 248 in East Allen Township, Northampton County. Drivers involved were a 17-year-old man from Bethlehem and Dean A. Emrey, 51, from Parryville.
Troopers did not give any details concerning the crash.
• A crash was reported at 6:29 a.m. on April 24 along Airport Road in East Allen Township. Drivers involved were Ian O. Murphy, 28, of Bath and Joseph W. Davis, 49, of Walnutport.
Troopers did not give any details concerning the crash.
• Several Carbon County teens were injured at 8:41 p.m. April 21. State police at Fogelsville said a 17-year-old female from Lehighton, driving a 2013 Ford Fusion, was eastbound on East Texas Road in Lower Macungie Township and slowed to a red light and attempted to make a left turn to go north on Brookside Road. Jamal M. Dempsey, 28, of Hereford, Berks County, driving a 2008 Jeep, was southbound on Brookside Road approaching a green light.
Troopers said the teen entered the intersection from the west with the front of the Jeep coming into contact with the driver’s side of the Fusion.
The teen and her two passengers, a 16-year-old male and a 14-year-old female, both of Lehighton, and Dempsey, were all taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, for treatment of injuries.
Both vehicles were be towed.
Troopers cited the teen.
• State police at Bethlehem said a crash occurred at 5:44 p.m. on April 7 along Route 145 in North Whitehall Township. Troopers identified the drivers involved as Marisol Salgado, 36, of Jim Thorpe, driving a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox, and Guadalupe Ortiz, 48, of Bethlehem, driving a 2020 Dodge Caravan. Troopers did not give details of the crash but indicated that Salgado was cited for following too closely.
• A crash occurred April 11 at 6:15 p.m. along North Chestnut Street in Bath, Northampton County.
Troopers identified the two drivers involved in the crash as Daniel R. Abel, 34, of Palmerton, driving a 2014 Dodge Caravan, and Charles S. Kutz, 41, of Slatington, driving a 2006 Subaru Legacy. No other details concerning the crash were released.
Troopers indicated that Abel was cited for traffic control signals violation.
