Wine on the River set in Lehighton
A wine festival will soon be on tap in Lehighton.
The “Wine on the River” wine festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 1 in the back parking lot of the Lehighton Outdoor Center, 123 Lehigh Drive, Lehighton.
Hosted by the Lehighton Downtown Initiative, the event will include over eight wineries, six food trucks, and several craft vendors, according to Ryan Saunders, president of the LDI.
Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 the day of the event. Designated driver tickets are $5.
This is an over-21 event, so those who wish to join must be 21 years of age or older to enter.
No pets are permitted in this outdoor event. The event will promote safe social distancing, as vendors will be spaced out. Masks are not required to enter, though individuals may wear a mask if they wish.
Entertainment for the event will be sponsored by Home Comfort Solutions, and will include Eric Stimmler, from “The Left Edge” from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by Lehighton’s own Damian Walck from 1:30-3 p.m., and Layne “Doc” Roberts from Colossal Radio, Palmerton, from 3:30-6 p.m.
Saunders said the fundraiser is an all weather event, rain or shine.
He urged individuals to come out, bring a chair and enjoy the food, wineries and entertainment.
“We use our events to help fund projects in our community and help fund revitalization efforts in Lehighton,” Saunders said. “We are looking to use proceeds from this event to invest directly back into our community.”
Tickets can be purchased online at LDILehighton@gmail.com, or find them on Facebook. Tickets may also be purchased from Styling Zone Hair Salon at 101 S. 10 St., Lehighton; the Lehighton Outdoor Center; as well as on sale at the Lehighton Downtown Winter Farmers Market from 10 a.m. to noon April 24 in the parking lot of the Lehighton Recreation Center, 243 S Eighth St., Lehighton.
Saunders noted the LDI will also host its annual “Rocktoberfest” event Oct. 16-17 in the borough’s Upper and Lower parks of Lehighton.
He said Lehighton’s fireworks will be held on July 4, with more information to follow.
