Police: Woman was shooting up heroin inside car in Lansford

A Lansford woman has been charged after being spotted shooting up heroin from inside a vehicle.

At 4:31 p.m. April 3, Lansford police were dispatched to the area of E Water and Walnut Street after a person called and said that the woman was sitting in a red Volkswagen with a broken back window “shooting up heroin.”

Police located the woman, later identified as Gemile Mehmeti, 33.

Mehmeti had a small makeup bag that was open, with small bags of crystal like substance suspected to be methamphetamine.

Mehmeti attempted to cover the bag up and push it into her purse. She resisted getting out of the vehicle so Summit Hill Police Department came to assist.

In the small makeup bag was suspected meth, suspected heroin, suspected fentanyl, blue and orange pills, mushrooms and $323.

Mehmeti faces charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance.

She is out on bail set $40,000, 10% , and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing May 12 before District Judge Casimir T. Kosciolek of Lansford.
