Father John Matios, parish priest of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Palmerton, was cited last evening in the parish school auditorium for being a “spiritual leader and model shepherd of the flock” at the 28th annual Golden Deeds awards dinner sponsored by the Palmerton Exchange Club.

The priest received his citation from attorney Murray Mackson in the presence of more than 250 people at the dinner meeting. He was cited for his 28 years of service to the community and received a replica of the Golden Deeds book in which his name was entered.

In presenting the award, Mackson pointed out the priest has always been ready and willing to help anyone with anything in the community.
