Lehighton Leo Club active in community

The Lehighton Area Leo Club is very active in the community.

And if you’re between the ages of 12-18, it is a great organization to get involved with to craft leadership and organization skills.

LEO stands for leadership, experience and opportunity. Leo members become project organizers and motivators of their peers.

“I like that we help people,” said Cara Ahner, treasurer. “It just feels amazing to lend a helping hand whenever we can.”

Ashley Beers, president, is coordinating an upcoming spaghetti dinner fundraiser and is hoping the community comes to support.

“Being a Leo means a lot to me,” said Beers. “It gives me a place to serve my community and meet people who live here.

The spaghetti dinner is scheduled for May 22 at the Lehighton Boys and Girls Band Hall from 4-7 p.m.

The dinner includes all-you-can-eat spaghetti with a salad, dessert and beverage. Limited indoor seating will be available. Drive-by pickup is also available. Proceeds benefit local community projects. Tickets are not required.

The Leos are also partnering with the Lehighton Area Lioness Lions members to sell Krispy Kreme Donuts. Orders can be placed with a Leo or Lion Lioness member.

To become a Leo at no charge, call Sue at 610-704-7122.

Club meetings are held the third Tuesday of every month from 6-8 p.m. at the band hall. Prospective Leos need don’t need to reside in Lehighton to join. Since there are few Leo clubs in the area, students from surrounding communities are welcome.
