Four people have applied for the tax assessor position in the Schuylkill County Tax Assessment office, Both County Administrator Gary Bender and human resources personnel confirmed Friday. The deadline to apply was April 5.

The position was vacant after commissioners voted to restructure the tax claim and tax assessment offices last month. Commissioner Gary Hess casts the lone no vote.

The job ad lists the pay at $44,766 a year.

Bender said interviews will start next week.

The first round of interviews will be conducted by Lisa Mahall, county engineer, Heidi Zula, human resources director, Glenn Roth, solicitor, and Bender. Commissioners will then interview the candidates to chose a finalist.
