Tamaqua police log
Tamaqua police reported on the following arrests made by officers:
• Alysha Hartshorne, 34, of the 500 block of Washington Street, Tamaqua, is facing charges of simple assault and harassment following an incident that occurred at 8 p.m. March 28.
Officers were dispatched to a fight between a man and woman at the Hartshorne’s address.
On scene officers made contact with Hartshorne outside the residence and she appeared to be under the influence. She said she got into a fight with a male companion. Police spoke to the man who said Hartshorne accused him of inappropriate conduct. She then kicked him in the face and threw a ceramic pot at him which struck him in the back causing scratches.
Hartshorne was taken into custody and charged. She was placed in the county prison but records indicate she has since been released.
• Cathy Ann Balliet, 57, of the 300 block of W. Broad Street, has been cited for harassment for an incident on March 26. Police received a complaint from a neighbor of Balliet who said she was harassing her husband every time he passed her apartment. Following an investigation a citation for harassment was filed against Balliet.
• Thomas Barron, 20, of the 300 block of Orwigsburg Street, was cited for disorderly conduct following an incident on March 25 at 2:30 p.m. Officers on patrol in the area of Orwigsburg and Coal streets, noticed a disturbance. Contact was made with two males, ages 17 and 18. The 17-year-old said a man was calling him and his friend racial slurs and went into the residence.
Officers went to that address and Barron answered the door. He had with him a large black dog. Barron was told the put the dog back inside the home at which point Barron began to scream and yell at the officers. He then put the dog on a leash and let the dog go, which charged at the officers barking and growling. Barron refused to take the dog inside, stop yelling and speak with the officers. He was eventually taken into custody, transported to the police station, issued a citation and released.
• On March 27 at 10:50 p.m. police were dispatched to 500 Penn Street, Tamaqua Area High School, for a disturbance with a juvenile male throwing objects at vehicles. At the scene officers spoke with two victims who said he threw a beverage and rocks at their vehicle while they were trying to leaving a parking lot at the school.
As a result police charged a 17-year-old male with disorderly conduct.
