Wind Gap Pharmacy will be conducting a free vaccine clinic from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the West End Fairgrounds in Gilbert.
The clinic is open to people in the 1A phase, according to Department of Health guidelines. No preregistration is needed.
Kathy Moyer, pharmacy manager, said they expect to administer 2,500 to 3,000 first dose Moderna vaccines. Shots will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.
Plans will be made for another date at the fairgrounds for the second dose.
Each person will be required to sign a consent form indicating they are in phase 1A.
Moyer said Saturday will be a drive-up clinic, but if someone cannot get out of the vehicle the shot will be administered in the car. People will have to wait 10 to 15 minutes before leaving to make sure they don’t have a reaction to the shot.
Details are still being worked out, but a traffic pattern will be set for cars to turn on Weir Lake Road, make a right onto Stagecoach Road and a right onto County Park Road to the back gate of the fairgrounds.
Fire police will be helping with traffic flow.
More information is expected to be released before Saturday.
“We are almost at the 12,000 vaccine mark,” Moyer said. “We have been working hard on these services to the community.”
