Patricia Vito, a lifelong resident of Nesquehoning, has announced she is seeking re-election to her position as tax collector in the borough. She is seeking the Democratic Party’s nomination in the May 18 primary election.
Vito, who has served as tax collector for the past 20 years, cited the “extensive knowledge of the practices and procedures that enabled me to become a certified tax collector for the commonwealth of Pennsylvania.”
She said, “My husband, Fred, and I were very happy to raise our four children in this community, which we love, and it has been a pleasure to have contributed to civic and school activities here for many years. Serving as tax collector has been a rewarding experience for me, having had the opportunity to assist the wonderful people of our community. I humbly ask for your support to have the opportunity to continue to performing my duties.”
Vito is a past treasurer for the Nesquehoning Democratic Club and currently serves as secretary of the Carbon County Democratic Executive Committee.
Prior to becoming tax collector, she was a pharmacy technician for the CVS Pharmacy, Nesquehoning, for 15 years.
For 27 years, she served as a co-director of the Panther Valley High School Harmony Scholars program, a venture that raised thousands of dollars for the Cancer Society and its various recipients through the years.
