Members of the Carbon County Firemen’s Association yesterday selected a site in Baer Memorial Park, Lehighton, for the construction of a new all-steel and concrete block tower to be used for training purposes by the association.

The tower will replace a wooden structure in the park that has been used for the last 13 years by the association for its annual fire training school. The present tower has been repaired several times but has deteriorated to the point where further repairs are not deemed feasible.

The new building will be L-shaped and will be three stories high, 48 feet high, 43 feet long and 18 feet wide.
