The Rev. Daniel Pavelchak, rector of St. Mary’s Russian Orthodox Church, Coaldale, was the recipient of a gold pectoral cross during a Pontifical Divine Liturgy yesterday in the church. Bishop Kiprian of the Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania made the presentation.

The fourth-highest award presented in the church, the cross is presented for meritorious service to the church.

Assisting in the liturgy were Bishop Theodosius of Sitka, Alaska; the Rev. Paul Merculieff of St. Paul’s Island, Alaska, deacon, and Joseph Gallick, Nichola Boldireff, Michael Lepa and Robert Kondratick, all seminarians at St. Tikhon’s Seminary, South Canaan, subdeacons.
