Three Carbon County residents, charter members of the Tri-County Mental Health-Mental Retardation Board with a combined continuous service spanning 23 years, were honored last night for their long and hard work for the agency.

Mrs. Gertrude Apfelbaum and James Walker, both of Jim Thorpe, and Dr. L. Allan Erskine of Palmerton were presented special citations on behalf of the Carbon County Commissioners.

All three receiving the citations were appointed to serve on the first Citizens Advisory Board of the agency on April 1, 1976.

Presenting the citations to them was Albert U. Koch, commissioners’ chairman, assisted by Thomas Foley, program administrator.
